Colours School of the Arts enrichment program is being established to provide enriching programming for at risk youths in the Lee County Area. The program will create partnerships with the local school district and the juvenile court system. The program will focus on these key objectives: Combat social issues such as: obesity in youth, juvenile crime and teen pregnancy which are on the rise because of the lack of activities available that will engage young people. Introduce dance, music, drama, poetry, and visual arts to underprivileged youth who would not otherwise get the experience due to economic and geographic limitations. Encourage people of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds to use art as a form of communication and appreciation of differences. Provide classes in the creative and performing arts, such as dance, drama and music to the community. Offer programs after school, during the summer, winter and spring breaks. Provide tutoring in reading and math.
Gaining funding through the Give for Youth platform would allow Colours School of the Arts to offer low cost services to all segments of the population targeting under-served youths and families.
The organization would be able to serve as a community resource for cultural awareness, education and recreation.
Colours School of the Arts Mission is to educate and empower future community leaders through the arts, character development, and cultural enrichment. The programming at the school addresses all areas of life. The approach is holistic and focuses on the development of the entire person using the performing arts as the vehicle.
